Yahoo is closing it’s music store, and with it the DRM servers that verified that you do, in fact, have the right to play the music you purchased. Yahoo is failing and taking your money with it. Which, of course, is the whole reason we hate DRM in the first place.

This began as a mushy love sort of thing, but it kind of evolved into an epitaph for my social skills directed at a crush of mine. Oh well. I suppose it came out okay.
High above hill and hole
Water breaks and waves roll
A toss, a turn, a bevy of quake
And all around I feel the world shake
Forces clash, winds collide
Turning and burning and bearing wide
A crash, a flash, a flurry of bane
And all around I feel the strain
Insomuch as this the world,
so my thought and every word
clash and fire, fight and flame
every word wrought full in pain
And in this so surreptitious state
I try and try to turn the gate
to loose the tide and let the words
flow and ebb like and unto yours
But I am tied, and in mind bound
for in truth and truthful sound
I am guarded through and through
bound for all and all for you.

I have just recently seen for the first time the movie Brazil (I know, it’s over 20 years old, shame on me). It was, put simply, a brilliant and funny movie, if just a little bit hard to follow. I saw a lot of interesting symbolism, and I’m sure a lot more interesting symbolism went right over my head. I may have to buy it in the future and watch it again.

No, no we’re actually not.
I’m so sick of redneck jokes about Alabama and the southeast in general. They’re old, tired, and idiotic at this point.
For one, Alabama and the southeast actually has some of the best economic conditions in a America right now. A home that would cost over half a million in some parts of the country like New York City or California would only cost 100-200 thousand dollars around here, because our housing rates didn’t balloon like theirs, which means we’re not so much feeling this whole “can’t sell my house crisis.” We have jobs around here, especially in Huntsville with the BRAC.
Also, people seem to think everyone in Alabama is stupid. Guess what? We’re not. We have the country’s major technological centers right here in Alabama. Huntsville? Basically every piece of hardware we’ve sent into space was built there. By rednecks apparently. Mobile? We’re building the newest Navy ships there. Atlanta, GA has some of the foremost medical centers in the country.
Yet people still want to call us rednecks. Why? I don’t know. But we’re not all stupid, and we don’t all marry our cousins. So the next time you feel like making a redneck joke, would you kindly go piss off. Thank you.
I feel better now. :D

You know, at first, I thought it was just the software industry. However, the music industry jumped on. As I look around, I realize just how far and wide it has swept. That is, the mindset that every consumer is a potential criminal, and must be treated as such.
